Audi RS5 Cabriolet to Debut Online Ahead of Paris... Send us your Tips! MANUFACTURERS BY REGION Vehicle Types Shows and Events Motorsports Aftermarket Lifestyle

Volvo is recalling 300 of its 2013 S80 and XC70 cars because of a flaw with the tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) that could potentially prevent the system from notifying the driver of an over- or under-inflated tire.

The units affected will display a “TPMS Service Required” message after the car is driven faster than 25 mph for more than 15 minutes. While the system error itself doesn’t pose a risk to the tires, it will keep the driver from being notified in the event that the system is actually needed. Driving on a tire with pressure above or below the recommended level can, of course, cause tire failure.

Owners with affected cars can expect to be notified by the automaker to bring their cars in for dealer service where the TPMS will be reprogrammed to correct the problem. For now, owners can also contact Volvo customer service at (800) 458-1552 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at (888) 327-4236.
