The Toyota Camry and Honda Accord both passed the 30,000-unit mark for August, separating themselves from the midsize sedan pack. Otherwise, the midsizer standings are similar to those from last month expect for the Kia Optima and Chevy Malibu swapping places. The Optima, which found its way home to 13,949 customers, drops to seventh place and forfeits the number-six spot to the Chevy Malibu, which sold 14,495 units.
The top three spots shouldn’t surprise anyone. Toyota moved 36,720 Camrys from its showrooms during August, beating the second-place Honda Accord by almost 2000 units (34,848). Year-to-date totals for both cars are 280,536 and 218,665 units, respectively. We’re eager to see if Honda can pull off an upset in the coming months following the launch of the 2013 Accord, set to go on sale in a couple weeks. Another car Toyota should be nervous about is the new 2013 Nissan Altima, which went on sale in mid-July. The Altima took third place among midsize sedan sales last month with 25,889 units sold.
Coming in at fourth was the Ford Fusion (21,690 units). With all all-new Fusion just around the corner, expect things to get very interesting up top, depending on how well the Altima and Accord resonate with consumers.

Nothing new here… in a few months it will be more interesting as deliveries of the new Fusion, Accord, 6, Malibu and Altima ramp up.
After two months, the new Altima is just maintaining sales, not growing share. I’m somewhat surprised.
It has now actually fallen behind Honda Civic AND Accord in sales to date to 4th place among cars!
The new Accord and Fusion will also probably maintain position, but I’m not seeing anything that should scare, The People’s Champion, the Toyota Camry…..

They might have defecated on them, but domincating is going too far…..

What does “domincate” mean?
