MKT Town Car Competition: 2013 Cadillac XTS Lineup Grows with New Livery Models

It’s one thing to want to be chauffeured around in a limousine, but another to actually want to be the driver. With new fleet cars based on the 2013 Cadillac XTS, livery drivers might not mind shuttling rowdy high school kids to the prom anymore.

Now that the Lincoln Town Car professional car lineup is being replaced by variants of the MKT Town Car crossover, Cadillac has pounced on the opportunity to give fleet vehicle operators another option by expanding the XTS lineup with a livery sedan, limo, and funeral coach. The XTS sedan on sale for consumers and the livery sedan will virtually be the same, Cadillac spokesman David Caldwell tells us.

“Unlike maybe some prior efforts or other automakers, we are not producing a different version of XTS with less equipment or fewer and different content for use by livery customers,” Caldwell says. ”It contains the same content, visually and mechanically, that every other XTS has.”

A factory package, though, will outfit the livery sedan with air-leveling rear suspension, Brembo brakes, illuminated door handles, a rearview camera, obstacle detection, remote start, HID headlights, CUE infotainment system, 19-inch alloy wheels, and a microfiber suede headliner.

As for the limo and funeral coach, Caldwell explained that while Cadillac doesn’t manufacture custom bodies, the company will lay the groundwork that can be adapted for custom bodies and “stretch” applications. “What we will do is produce a chassis option for select upfitters that enables them to do their own customization with certain limitations and parameters.”

Since the limo and funeral coach aren’t yet in production, no further details were revealed. With the new livery car options, we’re eager to see how whether it proves to be a threat to MKT Town Car sales.
