While the Kia Forte sedan, Koup, and hatch serve the U.S market, the Korean automaker also offers the compact cee’d Sportswagon in Europe. In the U.K., where diesel engines account for a larger portion of total vehicle sales, the wagon is exclusively powered by turbodiesel engines. Though the chances of Kia importing the cee’d Sportswagon as a 2014 Kia Forte variant are slim, we still want to know what you think: Should Kia consider offering U.S. buyers a compact wagon like the cee’d Sportswagon?
The Kia wagon offers two diesel engines: a 1.4-liter unit producing 88 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed manual transmission; and a 124-hp 1.6-liter I-4 making 192 lb-ft of torque. The 1.6-liter engine is mated to the same manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Both transmissions feature stop-start technology. In the U.S., the only compact diesel wagon is the Volkswagen Jetta SportWagen
There are few choices when it comes to wagons or diesel-powered passenger cars, though many enthusiasts seem to welcome both in the same vehicle. Should the redesigned 2014 Kia Forte offer a wagon like the cee’d Sportswagon? Vote in our poll below.
