A new video that has surfaced online brings together the freshly revealed Peugeot 208 GTi with the car that started it all, its 1980s/1990s 205 GTi ancestor.
Watching the (mediocre-quality) clip, we can't help but appreciate the timeless beauty of the 205's styling, especially when compared to the fussy and somewhat bulbous design of the newer 208.
Under the skin, Peugeot's latest pocket-rocket employs the PSA Peugeot-Citroen and BMW Group co-developed 1.6-liter turbocharged four that's good for an output of 197hp (200PS) and peak torque of 275Nm (203 lb-ft).
The 205 GTi was available at its time with two naturally-aspirated four-cylinder engines, a 1.6-liter unit initially rated at 104hp (105PS) and then at 115hp (117PS), and 1.9-liter version producing 126hp (128PS) and later on, 120hp (122PS) with a catalytic converter.
