BMW is celebrating its 25th anniversary of V-12 powered 7 Series sedans with an ultra-low-volume special-edition 2013 BMW 760Li. A few months ago, we heard rumors BMW may finally consider an M-powered 7 Series, but in the meantime, BMW fans will have to be satisfied with the special-edition 7 Series, which carries a base price of $159,695 including destination.
The special flagship sedan is dubbed “V-12 25 Years Edition” and will include a number of extra standard features and exclusive visual touches. Inside, passengers are surrounded by BMW Individual Champagne full merino leather seats accented by black piping. The headliner is covered in champagne-colored Alcantara and all pillars are wrapped in black leather. Piano black wood trim is used for dash and door panel accents, as well an inlayed piece in the steering wheel. A “V-12 25 Years Edition” badge is placed on the door sills, headrests, and iDrive controllers. Passengers in the back are treated to a rear seat entertainment system that includes flatscreens mounted behind the front headrests and an iDrive controller. Outside, the special-edition 760Li rides on 20-inch rims.
BMW is only allocating 15 models for U.S. customers. Pricing has been set at $159,695, or $16,900 more than the price of a “base” 2013 760Li. The current 760Li is powered by a twin-turbo, 6.0-liter V-12 churning out 535 hp and 550 lb-ft of torque. During our test of a 2010 model, we achieved a 0-60 mph time of 4.1 seconds. If that’s not outrageous enough, the 5017-pound sedan covered the quarter mile in just 12.4 seconds at 115.5 mph, just 0.4 seconds slower than the 2012 Porsche 911 Carrera S we tested earlier this year.
