Alfa Romeo’s U.S. debut may have just been pushed back again, a new report suggests. On October 30, Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne plans to disclose updated plans for the Italian brand, which may include delays of most U.S.-bound vehicles such as the 4C sports car.
Earlier this summer we reported the 4C coupe’s arrival was set for summer 2013, ahead of its scheduled debut at the 2014 Detroit auto show. Now, it appears, the car’s official on-sale date is uncertain. The Giulia midsize sedan and wagon were supposed to launch a few months after the 4C, but both have been pushed back, arriving here no sooner than 2014. Also set to go on sale the same year is Alfa’s new midsize SUV that is said to be based on the upcoming successor to the Jeep Liberty.
In 2015, we should see the new two-seater roadster from the partnership between Alfa and Mazda. Both automakers will each sell their own variants of the new roadster and powertrain choices should include a 1.8-liter, direct-injection turbocharged four-cylinder rated at 200 hp. Even further down the product schedule is an all-new Giulietta hatchback, which Americans probably won’t see until the end of the decade. A large rear-drive sedan and a compact crossover have reportedly been cancelled for our market. Stay tuned for more details following Marchionne’s announcement next month.
