Street racing is inherently a high-stakes extralegal activity, and the stakes are even higher when you’re driving a six-figure Lamborghini. This video shows one Lambo owner who may have lost such a gamble, as his Italian exotic is now reduced to a burnt-out husk following a purported high-speed romp with another vehicle.
A Lamborghini traveling at a high rate of speed along I-196 in Western Michigan went off road, landing in some trees before catching fire, local NBC affiliate Wood TV 8 reports. The wrecked exotic was reportedly worth $430,000, though the news station didn’t identify the model or year of the car.
Before the Lamborghini left the interstate, a red or orange passenger car – reported by witnesses to be a Toyota – was seen traveling alongside the Italian exotic at speeds in excess of 100 mph. The other car didn’t stop when the Lamborghini crashed, instead choosing to flee the scene. Police wouldn’t confirm whether they believed the cars were racing.
The Lamborghini driver walked away with only a bump on his forehead that was treated before being released. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department has yet to release the name of the Lamborghini driver, as the investigation is ongoing.
Based on the eyewitnesses’ description, perhaps police should put out an APB on the Toyota Supra Paul Walker drove in The Fast and the Furious. Check out the full news cast below, and tell us if you can identify the Lamborghini model from the wreckage.
