There are 17 Honda Ridgelines are being recalled for an incorrect passenger airbag status indicator. All 17 affected vehicles were built on April 18.

We’ve seen more serious recalls, but the affected Ridgelines no longer conform to the requirements of a Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard for “occcupant crash protection.”

Essentially, the wrong indicator light means the driver and the vehicle occupants may not be informed that the front passenger airbag is off and will not deploy in a crash, potentially increasing the risk of injury to the front passenger.

The Japanese automaker will contact the 17 owners and dealers will replace the passenger airbag indicator free of charge. The safety recall is expected to roll out on September 21.
