After a steering wheel became detached last month in a Nissan model in Helsinki, Finland, the company issued a worldwide recall for approximately 51,000 vehicles.
Last month Finnish national broadcaster YLE reported that the steering wheel in a Nissan Qashqai came loose while camera man was driving it. Luckily, no one was hurt in this incident.
The steering wheel is supposed to loosen only ”in extreme circumstances,” according to a statement from Nissan Nordic Europe spokeswoman Taina Erkkila.
Even so, this event has spurred a recall for the Qashqai, Qashqai+2 and Nissan NV200 models. Only the NV200 is sold here, but the recall could possibly spread to other models that use the same parts.
