While the new 2013 Nissan Altima sedan is filling showrooms across the country, there’s another new midsize Nissan sedan now on sale: the 2013 Nissan Maxima. For the 2013 model year, the Nissan Maxima four-door gets a couple packaging revisions and a base price that’s $360 above that of the 2012 Maxima.
Though the new 2013 Altima also offers a 3.5-liter V-6, the one in the 2013 Maxima pumps out 290 hp, or 20 hp more than in the Altima. The 2013 Maxima also offers 19-inch wheels, heated/cooled seats, and a dual-panel moonroof, features not available at any price on the new Altima.
The 2013 Nissan Maxima S has a keyless entry and start system, cloth seats, Bluetooth, a single-panel moonroof, 18-inch wheels, an eight-speaker sound system, and power front seats (8-way adjustable for the driver). A new SV Value package is available on the 2013 Maxima SV, which actually costs $40 cheaper than the 2012 model, at $35,860. For $1000 ($500 cheaper than the Bose Audio and Cold packages ordered separately), the SV Value package includes a nine-speaker premium sound system, speed-sensitive volume control, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated side mirrors. The Maxima can now be had in a Pearl White exterior color.
HID headlights are a $400 option, but can also be had in the $3250 Sport package. Aside from 19-inch wheels and a sportier suspension tuning, the Sport package adds darker finishes to the grille and headlights plus a tilt/telescoping steering column, a heated front seats, metallic trim, leather seats, and Nissan’s multi-camera RearView Monitor system. A navigation system costs $1850.
A 2013 Nissan Maxima with the top-of-the-line Premium package costs $41,410 — that includes features like the HID headlights, RearView Monitor, dual-panel moonroof, a premium sound system, and a navigation system. A loaded 2013 Nissan Altima costs $31,950 but we’re guessing better deals can be had on the Maxima. The 2012 sedan is currently being offered with incentives of $4000-$4500.
Between the new 2013 Altima and the far less common but more expensive 2013 Maxima, which would you choose?
