Yes, the Aston Martin Virage is going out, as soon as it came in. It’s only been on the market for 18 months, but it’s sold only 1,000 examples so far, and Aston has had to pull the plug. The new DB9 will fill the void left by the Virage, but not before it moves slightly upmarket for the role. It has to be careful not to invade the upcoming Vanquish’s space, though.
When the Virage came on to the scene we did think it sat within a gap that was too small, between the DB9 and the DBS (DB9 470 hp; Virage 490 hp; DBS 510 hp). The fact that it was difficult to tell it apart from the DB9 was another thing. The DBS is set to be replaced by the Vanquish later this year.
All is not in vain, for we can see the Virage possibly becoming a collectable in the near future.
