Kia has decided to produce a limited production run of 2013 Rio SX hatchback models equipped with six-speed manual transmissions, undoubtedly responding to the demands made by consumer interest.
Up until now, the Korean automaker has only offered a manual transmission in its base LX model, but is now considering bringing other high-spec models to market with manual transmission options. Standard on the 2013 Kia Rio SX manual hatchback will be push-button start, touchscreen navigation, rear-backup camera, 17-inch wheels, sport suspension, LED daytime running lights, satellite radio, and black cloth interior.
The no-frills LX model comes with smaller 16-inch wheels, four-speaker stereo and even lacks things such as cruise control, power windows and door locks, and a telescopic steering wheel. Talk about bare bones.
The bad news? Kia only plans on building less than 500 manual-equipped SX models, so act fast if you’re interested. The starting MSRP will be $18,650 including a $750 destination charge and nets you a 1.6-liter, four-cylinder with 138-hp while getting 30-mpg in the city and 40-mpg on the highway.
