News about the GMC Canyon, General Motors’ premium midsize pickup truck, surfaced today during a meeting the automaker hosts to update its dealers on the coming model year.
General Motors confirmed earlier this year that the Chevrolet Colorado would be headed back to the North American market. Now it sounds like the automaker will offer the Canyon, a truck that used to share everything but a badge with the Colorado, as its own product, saying “the Canyon will be a GMC through and through.”
Specifics on the truck are still under wraps, but GM exec Tony DiSalle said today that the truck will be built at the comapny’s Wentzville, Mo. plant. The Chevrolet Colorado is expected to make its North American launch sometime in 2014, but it still isn’t clear when the Canyon will be available.
