McLaren’s Formula 1 race team is gearing up for this weekend’s Singapore Grand Prix, and the company’s automotive division also is preparing for a big weekend. McLaren will reportedly unveil a special edition of its MP4-12C in Singapore called the Fire Black Singapore Edition, painted in colors that recall the Vodafone-McLaren Mercedes Formula 1 race car.
The McLaren MP4-12C Fire Black Singapore Edition wears Fire Black paint with special Rocket Red and silver accents, arranged to mirror the livery of the McLaren Formula 1 cars. Lightweight alloy wheels and unique front and rear fascias also are part of the package.
McLaren reportedly only built three of the special-edition cars, and two of them have already been spoken for by well-heeled buyers. The Singapore-edition car reportedly costs the equivalent of about $1.04 million — a price premium likely due in part to the cost of importing a McLaren MP4-12C into Singapore in the first place.
The news comes only days after McLaren showed the first pictures of its new P1 supercar, which will debut next week at the Paris Motor Show.
