Thread of the Day: Which New Car Has the Best Wheel Design?

Designers pay just as much attention to a new car’s wheel design as they do to other styling cues because, let’s face it, an ugly set of wheels on an attractive vehicle can throw off its entire appearance. Wheels can visually complete a car’s entire design and sometimes complement brightly painted brake calipers. Some new car wheel designs have 10 or more spokes while many adopt five-spoke designs.

For today’s Thread of the Day, Frisky_Dingo asks, “What are some of your favorite wheel designs?” While aftermarket rims offer plenty of possibilities, we’re narrowing the field to OEM wheels. Suggestions in the forum include the wheels on the Dodge Charger SRT8, Porsche Boxster, and Mustang GT, but we want to know what you think.

Which new car wears the most attractive wheels?

The sport package Rays wheels on my 2012 370z are one of the things that attracted me to it at first. They look awesome but they are a b**** to keep clean.

I’m also a big fan of Audi’s wheel’s that come with their Titanium Sport packages on the A3, A4, A5, and TT.

The infiniti G has some pretty nice oem wheels.

The wheels on the SRT8 Challenger look outstanding.

The Porsche 918 prototype clear wheels are still the best i’ve ever seen. If were just talking OEM, the MBZ Mclauren has gorgeous wheels along with most AMG, but id still give the crown to Porsche. I still love Fuchs, the GT3s, even the Panamera and Cayenne have amazing rims that are both fashionable and functional….on a track!

I think its a tie between the Mopar 20″ gloss black rims for the 300 and the black chrome rims on the Grand Cherokee SRT8

I really like the new NSX Concept, if that counts, or even the new Accord coupe.

The 2014 Chevy Impala LTZ wheels look good

The new 2013 Chevy Camaro SS wheels look great. Also the 2013 Malibu LTZ wheels

That one’s hard. I’m simply crazy about wheel designs, and I’ll admit I like the ones on the Boxster. But my favorite wheels are the bubbles the Golf GTi wears: both unique and stylish.

Those New “flower” looking Wheels on the 2013 Ford Taurus SHO. I’ve heard some people say they’re ugly as hell, but i think there down right AWESOME. lol
