Toyota Classics 2012 to feature top conductor Joji Hattori and the Vienna Chamber Orchestra

The annual Toyota Classics charity concert is back for 2012, and will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of Malaysia’s Look East Policy introduced by then PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad.

It will serve up a performance by the Vienna Chamber Orchestra under the baton of famed conductor Joji Hattori, who has been Associate Guest Conductor of the orchestra since 2004. Hattori has also served as the Principal Resident Conductor of the Opera House in Erfurt, Germany and the Music Director of the Tokyo Ensemble. Soloist Soiichi Muraji will be on classical guitar.

A selection of classical pieces including Fledermaus Overture by J.Strauss will be performed, as well as a special interpretation of Malaysian classics from P Ramlee including his evergreen song, Dirgahayu.

The one night gala performance will be held on November 8 at the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas. VVIPs include DYMM Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah and Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The aim is to raise RM300,000 for the Malaysia Japan International Institute of Technology and the Persatuan Pemulihan Orang-orang Cacat Selangor & Wilayah Persekutuan. According to UMW Toyota, this CSR programme has raised more than RM6 million over the past 20 years.

Tickets are priced at RM220, RM170, RM120 and RM60, and can be purchased from Box Office, Dewan Filharmonik Petronas or online at www.toyota.com.my.
