Kia detailed its new Quoris (pronounced like “chorus”) earlier this summer, and has now released more information about the premium technology that will be found in the new luxury sedan.
On top of adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, and an Around View Monitor camera system, the Quoris will also offer the brand’s first 12.3-inch TFT LCD gauge cluster. Drivers can customize the color, size, and type of information displayed on the screen. Kia has opted for a traditional two-dial design, despite using the large screen in lieu of regular gauges. The Quoris wil also offer a full-color head-up display that can show speed, navigation instructions, cruise control information, and speed limits. Both front and rear passengers will have a BMW iDrive-like controller for the infotainment systems; there are two seat-mounted screens in back, and one large screen on the center stack.
The Quoris – which is already sold in Korea as the K9 — is based on the Hyundai Genesis’ platform, meaning that it will be Kia’s first rear-wheel drive sedan. The automaker says it will begin selling the car “outside of Korea” later this year, but has yet to detail what markets those will be other than saying the Quoris won’t make it to Europe. If the U.S. is included on that list, expect to see the same choices of V-6 and V-8 engines and eight-speed automatic from the Genesis.
It would be unsurprising to see the Kia Quoris on U.S. shores, as the Korean brand is looking to boost its image in the States. We’ve also spotted it testing out in California.
